Personal Knitting

This page has a little about the knitting and the crochet I do for me. I tend to get fidgety if I don't have something to do when watching the telly, knitting cures this and has become an obsession over the years. I will admit to doing other needlework too, but knitting is my first love. However, there are times when I just can't knit whilst watching a programme, especially foreign language ones with sub-titles. I don't do a lot of crochet these days, but I do make small film related toys for my Husband for his Birthday and for Christmas.

I have been knitting for over forty years now, although it doesn't feel like it, and there are still things I'm learning. Really I don't think you can ever learn everything to do with knitting, there is so much.

Below is a small gallery of some of the things I have created and a little about each one. I have knit a lot more items than are shown in the gallery, but I don't seem to have photographed them.

Purple Shawl

I developed this after totally failing to follow a pattern in a magazine. I thought it was me, but my Mother, who is also an experienced knitter, couldn't make the magazine pattern work either. The fan edging is crocheted on after all the knitting was done.

Colourful Jacket

I knitted this a long time ago and it is now beginning to show it's age. It is knit from a variety of yarns, but mostly a nice soft cotton. This was from a pattern in a magazine, but I can't remember which one.

Baggy Socks

These aren't the most beautiful looking pair of socks, they are made from left over sock yarn. I tend to wear flip flops around the house, which is fine in the summer, but not in the winter. So, to keep my feet warm I wear socks as well. I do now have a pattern for split toe socks so I don't have to knit baggy ones that I can wear with the flip flops. One day I will get around to photographing my other socks too.
